Spring Catchment Niklasreuth

Several preparation works had to be done before the construction of the collector well could start. The construction site was located at a slopy area at the northern border of the Alps. The necessary working platform for the excavator was realized by an achored concrete installation.

The delivery of the prefabricated concrete rings of the caisson was a challenge. A 300 to- mobile crane was the solution to get the rings in place.

Unexpected consolidated sediment which was embedded in the soil, led to problems during the sinkig of the caisson and during the lateral installation works. The experiences of our staff, several technical changes of the equipment and the strong confidence in order to solve the problems brought up a succesful result of the project.

Three laterals with a length of up to 40 m collect the spring water into the caisson. Finally the water flows through a pipeline downhill to the far distant water works. The difference in altitude between the spring catchment and water works give the additional opportunity to produce electrical power.
