The Collector Well at Theres ...
|
... is located in the quarternary aquifer layer of the river Main-valley. It was built for the supply of a new water treatment plant with about 100 cubicmeter per hour (ca. 0,63 MGD) raw water.
Two laterals with a length of 36 m or 40 m were installed in opposite directions for collecting the ground water. The drilling diameter was 464 mm. The stainless steel bridge slotted screens with a diameter of 200 mm got artificially flushed in gravel packs.
This collector well is the first horizontal water catchment in this well field which has been used for decades. The advantageous characteristics of a collector well in flat aquifers are a greater well surface compared to a vertical well and a wide and flat drawdown instead of a small and deep cone of depression.

The project was performed in cooperation with a partner, who was responsible for the concrete works of the well house, the installation of pumping equipment, the pipeline installation works and the construction of four new monitoring wells.
